Toast of the town! A few years ago I found Tim's website after having picked up a long neglected Canadian model Sunbeam Radiant Control toaster which I cleaned and had mostly working but couldn't get the thermostat to "latch". I sent it out to Tim f ...or repair assuming the thermostat was in need of rebuilding or replacement but he managed to fix it by cleaning and adjusting it and sent it back to me without charge! This after spending a decent amount of his time discussing the issue with me via e-mail and on the telephone. I was thrilled when the restored thermostat was reunited with my toaster and after a bit of calibration (and some more help from Tim) I was back up and toasting. Things were great for a few years until recently my toaster started having the same trouble where it wouldn't "catch" when the trip lever was engaged. I tried my best to troubleshoot, but came up short. Again, I reached out to Tim and he confirmed he would have to have a look at it so off the thermostat unit went to his workshop. Almost as soon as he received the part, it was fixed and sent back to me ready to be reinstalled in my toaster. Of course Tim's repair completely fixed the issue and my toaster is back up and running better then ever. Further, and despite my insistence, this man refused payment for any part of the process - even for the shipping ! When pressed on the matter, he citing some perceived error on his part. I can't say enough about his honesty and generosity, it is truly astounding. Thank you Tim once again and Happy Toasting! (show less)

If you need your Sunbeam toaster repaired and/or restored, look no further than Tim's Toasters. I can't say enough good things about Tim and his work. I had read about other people who had their toasters repaired, and it was enough to convince me to ...give it a go. I'm so glad I did. It took some time for the waitlist to catch up to me, but once it did, there were timely email updates, very kind and professional, plus pictures of YOUR toaster as the work progresses. It was a treat unboxing my toaster, which arrived before Christmas! It's never looked better, and works perfectly! What Tim is doing is unique, and well worth the money and time. Thanks Tim!(show less)

My 100 year old mother-in-law asked my husband to take a look at her broken 1953 T-20-A Radiant Control Toaster. She had received it as a gift in 1953 when my husband was born. It worked perfectly for 72 years! I was enlisted to find someone who coul ...d possibly repair it. So fortunately an internet search lead me to Tim’s Toasters. Tim was marvelous to work with ☺️. Tim was professional, kind, courteous and encouragable explaining how he would go about restoring this wonderful machine to perfection! He kept me informed, sending me update pictures, and assured me of his progress. He provided extraordinary detail and personal insight along the T-20-A ‘s journey through his shop. All this added up to building a trustworthy relationship, so much so I ordered restoration of one from his inventory!!! AMAZINGLY both Sunbeams look and operate as “NEW”. I could not be happier with the outcome. (show less)

Toaster came back better than when it was born in 1953. Tim completely restored it and sent photos. He tested it (I just wonder how much toast he eats) and it worked right out of the box(es). This isn't an inexpensive project but labor costsoney. Wel ...l worth it. Nowy family will be battling over who gets the toaster.(show less)

I ordered a Sunbeam T20b from Tim a few months ago. The toaster arrived yesterday. However, not only was there a toaster, but also a time machine! When I put the bread in and it lowered automatically, I was instantly returned to when I was a little b ...oy, fascinated by Grandma's Sunbeam Toaster, magically lowering bread, and raising a piece of toast! Tims work is artistic in every sense of the word! He communicates all through the process. It took some time, but that is to be expected. Art isn't rushed! We are so pleased with our beautiful "new" 72 year old toaster!(show less)

Like Brand New - Only 70 Years Old I had been looking for a toaster to replace the crappy one I had before when I saw an article about Tim's Toasters. I knew then my search was over. I wanted the same one my parents and grandparents had. Throughout ...the process, Tim kept in touch with updates. It took a while but it was well worth waiting for. As soon as I unboxed my "new" T-20-B toaster, all I could say was WOW! Just fantastic work. It is just a stunning model. It's a 70 year old like-new toaster. It's exactly as I remember it as a kid. First thing I did was make some toast, and of course it was perfect. The toaster is fantastic and we enjoy it everyday, not only for making toast, but just to look at the beautiful design. Tim is truly an appliance artist. Even the box is a work of art. You can't go wrong buying one of these.(show less)

A Stellar Experience! 🌟 I cannot say enough good things about Tim Wilson as a person and as a skilled craftsman in the art of restoring classic appliances. Thanks to Tim we now have our Sunbeam T-20 toaster back in working order. Yes, it was expe ...nsive. Yes, it took time. But it was worth every penny and every day to have our T-20 back in better than new appearance (a new cloth cord!), and working like it always did from the time I bought it at a yard sale in the mid 1980s. Tim was in constant contact with emails and photographs throughout the entire process. And best of all, Tim provided detailed operational and maintenance instructions when the toaster came back to us. Thanks again, Tim!(show less)

Tim is just incredible, thank goodness for people like him! We sent to him my grandmother's 1953 Sunbeam toaster that my mother and my uncle gave her just after she was widowed. We have a very close Cajun family and there are precious few heirlooms p ...assed down through ordinary families like ours, especially from a woman who raised two children on her own on a teacher's salary in the 1950's, so yes, a toaster can mean that much to someone. I'd confidently venture to say that there is no more trustworthy person out there for yours than Tim. Thanks again, Tim!!(show less)

Restored to perfection My parents had a Sunbeam toaster when I was growing up. I don't know what happened to that Sunbeam, but it didn't end up with me. I found one on eBay and Tim was able to restore it to perfection. He has given me a piece of m ...y childhood back, and I will be forever grateful. I will treasure it forever. Tim provided updates with photographs of my toaster in process. When it arrived it came carefully packaged in a box inside a box, with some complimentary Sunbeam original advertising reproductions. It was more than I expected. This is a pricey refurbishment but that's clearly because it is time consuming and painstaking. He treats each toaster like a work of art. The love he puts into his work shows and is worth every penny.(show less)

The utmost experience I contacted Tim after stumbling on his site when I procured a T-20 B from eBay. His thorough description of the restoration process made it a no-brainer to have the work done at Tim’s. Then pictures and descriptions began. It was so exciting to know about the progress. Just before final reassembly, more progress pictures and specific details about my unit came. If you are on the fence If you are on the fence, thinking about whether or not to use Tim's Toasters restoration service, you should absolutely do so! Tim's services are beyond the scope of anything I have ever experienced in the realm of restoratio ...ns. His experience and insight is better than anything I could have done, simply because he has seen it all. It has been almost one year since purchasing my Sunbeam T-20 toaster and sending it off to Tim for restoration. The toaster continues to produce perfectly toasted bread and has become the centerpiece for breakfast. During this time, we moved into ou ...r newly constructed house and after setting up the kitchen, we plugged in the toaster, and as soon as I dropped a slice into the toaster the outlet GFI tripped. In fact, it would trip any of the kitchen GFI outlets I tried. Sent the toaster off to Tim and he spent a great deal of time disassembling the toaster for inspection and found nothing wrong. Upon return, I tried the toaster at my sisters house and her GFI outlets had no problem. At this point I suspected the new construction GFI outlets may be bad. So, I purchased a different brand of GFI outlet (Leviton) to replace the original outlets (Eaton) in the new house. Plugged the toaster in, dropped a slice of bread into the slot, and it works perfectly! As best we can tell, the Eaton GFI outlets don’t like the large current surge from these older toasters, as the heating elements draw several hundred watts more than modern toasters. Leviton, and possibly other manufacturers, apparently have a broader tolerance for this condition. In any case, the toaster is used for breakfast toast almost every morning and continues working great, no issues. Tim did yeoman’s work troubleshooting this issue and it was a joy to work with him on this issue. If my toaster ever needs service or repair, Tim is the only person I’ll allow to lay hands on my toaster! Thanks Tim!(show less)

America's Finest Mid-Century Toaster OMW! "Oh my word," as Granny used to say. My new T-20-B Sunbeam toaster is a work of art (Deco) - American-Made artistry borne of a post-war industry that baked pride and longevity into their products. My new T ...-20-B Sunbeam toaster has become an instant heirloom, to be included in my Will. My new Sunbeam toaster arrived securely and carefully packaged befitting an heirloom. The instruction and note cards were much appreciated, as they prevented me from doing something stupid and perhaps unsafe in my haste for that first piece of golden brown toast. In fact, I liked the professional packaging and enclosed cards and poster so much, that I'm keeping the personalized retro Sunbeam box and the instructions/note cards, the poster (to be framed) AND the toaster. They all add up to an over-the-top personal touch from Tim's Toasters. Not only are Tim's Toasters First Class, but Tim was first rate in his communications with this potential and then satisfied customer. Tim made time to send photos of my toaster's restoration progress. The photos and now the toaster-in-hand are evident of Tim's dedicated craftsmanship and his attention to detail in rebirthing America's finest Mid-Century toaster. Thanks again, Tim. P.S. Thanks Ran across Tim’s website in Atomic Ranch magazine last year and called him to see if he could repair our toaster (was not a Sunbeam), he was very helpful but in the end the toaster was not repairable. So we went back to our modern day toaster ... and being unhappy with the way it toasted. My wife's birthday was fast approaching and I was late getting her a present..... So I thought of Tim's toasters and corresponded with Tim and lo and behold he had a powder coated T-20B and sent me pictures. He sent it 4 days before her birthday the toaster and it arrived just in time. It works perfectly and it looks stunning with our metallic grey appliances. Tim’s marvelous craftsmanship is a sight to behold, and the packaging in personalized reproduction boxing is a wonderful touch. Tim's excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and great communications are unsurpassed! Finally, we LOVE our perfect toast every morning!(show less)

Best Customer Service Experience of my Life! As you read through Tim's endless list of 5 Star reviews you may begin to wonder if anyone can be worthy of such endless praise and in this curiosity you aren't alone. I wondered the same thing before doi ...ng business with Tim and I definitely went into it with reserved yet reasonably high expectations. That being said, Tim has met and exceeded my expectations every single step of the way. From communications via email, to follow through on promises made, he is the genuine article and a breath of fresh air in today's modern society. While I didn't have my T20-B restored by Tim, I first purchased one of his new reproduction cords which is beautiful and looks great on my toaster and later I helped get my father's T20 back in action by having Tim install one of his newly re-engineered bimetallic blades into my thermostat. If you're decently handy and don't mind spending the time, you can remove your thermostat, send it to Tim and he will fit a brand new bimetallic blade, test it for perfect operation and send it back to you good as new. I just received mine a few days ago and got it installed yesterday afternoon. My dad's toaster was back up and running and he'll be so glad to have it back. I simply can't say enough about how great it has been dealing with Tim and clearly my experience and opinion is widely shared. If you have a toaster that needs restoration or need any help with your old Sunbeam, do not hesitate to reach out and trust Tim. He will absolutely take wonderful care of you and you'll be so glad that you did!(show less)

In person picked up my Sunbeam I was so excited for my toaster I decided to pick it up in person! I met Tim and his whole team. To say it was a phenomenal experience is truly an understatement. True warmth and caring, coupled with the incredible att ...ention to a detailed restoration, sets this life experience apart from any other. Of course I will think of my Grandparents every time I use my Sunbeam, but I also know they would be very, very pleased knowing it was Tim that made it possible. Send him your Sunbeam and rest easy. Amazing Product, Spectacular Customer Service I purchased a restored toaster from Tim ~14 months ago. It worked wonderfully and looked amazing in my kitchen but this past month I noticed it had some issues. I reached out to Tim and he immediately j ...umped on a call with me to diagnose the issue. When we realized he'd need to service it, he offered to pay for UPS packing/shipping and placed my toaster first in line. True to his pledge, less than 2 weeks later I received my toaster -- working perfectly for the past 2 weeks making daily toast, chrome polished, AND with a new cord. Couldn't praise Tim and his team enough; his dedication to his craft and customers is beyond compare.(show less)

Excellent Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail I had been looking for a good toaster for several years. The best I could find was a DuoLite, fully mechanical, toaster. But as good as it was, it was finicky to set up and different breads all require ...d their own setup. Stumbled across Tim’s website and immediately knew this was THE toaster for me. Spent some time searching and finally found a T-20 model in working condition. Purchased the unit and sent it off to Tim as soon as I received it. I received my restored toaster just before Christmas. It works perfectly and it looks stunning as well. Tim’s marvelous craftsmanship is a sight to behold, and the packaging in personalized reproduction boxing is a wonderful touch. If you are looking for someone to restore these marvelous pieces of mechanical engineering, you can’t go wrong by sending your toaster to Tim. His excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and great communications are unsurpassed! Finally, you will LOVE your new toaster!(show less)

Just beautiful! Who knew a toaster could conjure emotion? After my dad's passing, I found my parent's Sunbeam toaster--a wedding gift in 1959--stored in the basement. A few years earlier we had replaced it with a cheap toaster just to get my dad thro ...ugh his morning routine. I couldn't part with it. The Sunbeam had sat on our kitchen counter throughout my entire childhood. I found Tim online and shipped off the toaster for refurbishing. Tim was responsive and sent pictures of progress along the way. Also provided info (our toaster was date stamped when manufactured (12/10/56)). The toaster now sits on my counter and I know it'll last my lifetime. I'll let my children decide who will keep it on theirs. It's an heirloom and I love having it back! Thank you Tim!(show less)

Toaster of Husband's Dreams I've been married 15 years, never have I been able to *gift* my husband something he was drooling over. He saw the Sunbeam toaster online (youtube) then went to watched an hour of toaster reviews. Then went on to explain ... to me the engineering behind the Sunbean toaster, how you can't find this kind of toaster, etc. So here I was, knowing he really would love a toaster like this. I went online, and all I could find was Sunbeams toasters in disarray (mostly Ebay). I was heartbroken. Then one night I decided to go on "duckduckgo.com" and put in "Sunbeam for sale" and came across Tim's website. All I can say is I've never had such great customer service, and it was an exciting process as he worked on the toaster. Well the day the toaster came in the mail it felt like Christmas. My husband was confused, but then was floored when he opened it up. Vintage, one of a kind toaster- automatic, completely refurbished and a grounded power cord (I loved this the most because of our 2 kiddos). It's one of my engineer husband's favorite "useful" toys. Suffice to say it is the most regularly used appliance in our kitchen, just after the stove. I also never realized, that the gourmet toast you get out at fancy restaurants- YOU CAN HAVE AT HOME!!! I normally have never been fond of toast, now I am buying SO many different types of bread to see what I like. So, it's my "husband's" toaster, but it's become a permanent part of our lives- and changed our family breakfasts (and lunch times if you toast the bread first). I wonder how we ever toasted toast with out it. Thank you Tim!(show less)

Add to that the kindness, lightheartedness, professionalism, and care with which he seems to go about his life and you start to feel that his work goes beyond that of "these little chrome gems". I found it about 20 years ago... About 20 years ago, I was in a junk shop and found an old toaster that looked pretty bad. I bought it, thinking that I might take it apart and see how nice I could make it. I got it home and cleaned it up and foun ...d that it had looked bad only because there had been a thick layer of grease on it, and beneath that was a vintage gem of kitchen equipment. But it needed work. Armed with a screwdriver, I began, but soon found it more complicated than I wanted to try, given that it was electric. I put it back in a carefully packed box, where it languished through a few moves, until I learned about Tim's work. I sent it to him and he did a great job! I was very pleased to get back a lovely, extremely clean, smoothly functional toaster that was what I had long been hoping for. Great work - highly recommended.(show less)

Literally, "The Night before Christmas" Twas the night before Christmas and all through the land, not a creature was stirring except the ups man. I smiled at the snowfall in this small Maryland town, it was a wonderful setting just at sundown. Ma i ...n her night gown and I in night shirt had just settled down for a bit of a flirt. Then, there was the ups man, delivering by eve, he had been on my front porch and ready to leave. A small box was left sitting to the right of the rug, I went down to the front door and gave it a tug. As the moon light gave notice, I had little to fear, that a true Christmas Miricle would shortly appear. I could see all the care that was taken throughout, Tim's well-earned reputation, no longer in doubt. This package was assembled as well as Fort Knox, My wondering eyes beheld a T-20b (in a original box.) I'm so proud of my Sunbeam and my friend "Toaster Tim", may his Aura stay bright, and his shine never dim. As my golden-brown toast, so magic to appear, I cut a thick slice of sweet butter to smear. And as family are shown...astonished they seem, we are sharing the legacy of the "Radiant Sunbeam." As my toast rose before me and the chrome shown so bright, I heard " Merry Christmas to all...and to all a good night." Tim and team, you all did such a great job getting my toaster out to me after I promised I wouldn't rush you. I couldn't be happier. Merry Christmas, Joel(show less)

Sunbeam Model T-20 Radiant Control toast, anyone? Tim communicated with us through the process. He was transparent and provided full documentation and pictures of the toaster restoration process. Tim was honest about the repair of our T-20. He shared ... with us that the T-20 was the original toaster that started the series and told us that there might be a chance that he could not repair it because there was a part that was no longer made. We packaged our toaster and sent it to Tim. The toaster that left our house was nice, but the toaster that came back from Tim's Toasters is pristine. Our toaster looks and works like brand new. Tim sent the toaster back in a box with customized labels and information about the unique features of the Sunbeam Model T-20 Radiant Control toaster. Most satisfying customer service ever I have been remiss in not leaving a review earlier to let prospective customers know that words such as ‘superlative’, ‘outstanding’, ‘extraordinary’, ‘marvelous’ and ‘remarkable’ seem insufficient to describe t ...he level of care and service provided by Tim Wilson of Tim’s Toasters. I have simply never had a more satisfying experience dealing with anyone in the service industry. An extraordinarily thoughtful communicator, Tim first explained in meticulous detail each step he would take in restoring the 1956 Sunbeam T-20B Automatic Toaster I inherited from my parents. After sending the toaster for refurbishing, Tim provided photos by e-mail of my toaster as he was restoring it. When I received it from him, it looked and operated as if brand new. He packaged it in what appeared to be a facsimile of the original box in which it was sold in 1956, except that it noted the month and year of restoration and that it had been restored for my wife and I (our names were printed on two of the labels. At my request, Tim even included the original power cord and plug that he replaced on the unit. Typical of Tim’s toaster wizardry, the replacement cord he procured and installed not only accommodated the grounded plug that makes the toaster as restored safer, but actually mimics exactly the colors and patterns present on the original cord. I recommend Tim Wilson of TimsToasters.com without reservation. I believe he provides good value for money, and lovingly restores the Sunbeam toasters for his customers as if he were restoring his own. Five out of five stars (I would give him more of I could).(show less)

The best part of the whole adventure has been getting to know Tim. Small businesses are the best and the 1-on-1 relationship you can build with an owner are invaluable. Tim is professional and personable, and quickly responded to all of my emails. He ... kept me up to date with detailed pictures of the restoration, and clearly worked out the specifics for shipping. As others have noted, Tim does an incredible job of toaster repair and restoration. I was completely gobsmacked at how brand new looking my T-20-B was upon it's return. And it works like new, as well. Better even, with the improved grounded wiring. The special return packaging and included retro Sunbeam poster were lovely added touches. To help save him a little money and protect from porch pirates, we decided to ship my toaster to my workplace. Tim got in contact with my boss and the two of them worked out a way to surprise me with my perfectly restored toaster – on Christmas Eve! My T-20-B was my parents' wedding toaster from 1955. It's the only toaster I knew growing up and we used it up until the early 1990s when it quit working. But I couldn't bear to just toss it. I stored it in my basement for 30 years, hoping to find a way to repair it one day. I am now enjoying the best toast – I'd almost forgotten how good it can be. I am so pleased to have found Tim's Toasters.(show less)

Back in the late 50’s and early 60’s, my parents would take us kids to visit our grandparents. Being a young shaver, I was amazed and intrigued by how their toaster worked. The piece of bread placed in the toaster would slowly go down and then would ...slowly rise as cooked toast automatically. As the years passed, sadly my grandparents passed away. Knowing how much I had always liked the old Sunbeam toaster, my parents ask me if I would like to have it. I was very happy to have inherited it, and for a couple of decades it had been working fine, but about a month or so ago it stopped working. Not wanting to get rid of the toaster, I took it upon myself to see if I could fix it and was amazed to see the manufactured date stamped inside: Jan. 31, 1956 (Sunbeam model T-20B). WOW! It had been working for 65 years! I did the basic tinkering with it, cleaned it but to no avail as it still wouldn’t work. I search the internet looking to see if I could find anyone who repaired these types of toasters. Nothing showed up except a few places where you could download a “fix it yourself” manual, if you wanted to try it, but it wasn’t for me. I searched a little more and ran across “timstoasters.com”. Initially, I just wanted a repair, not a total restoration, but after talking to my wife and then with Tim about what he does in restoration, I decided to send it to him for the total restoration. My wife and I decided the toaster had become a treasured family heirloom that we could someday pass down to the kids in our family. When we received the toaster back yesterday, we were shocked in amazement! The toaster looked brand new, inside and out just like it must’ve looked back in1956 when my grandparents bought it! It truly exceeded any expectations we had for what it might look like coming back. Tim is a magician with who clearly enjoys and takes great pride in his work. Not only did he repair and make the toaster look and function like new again, but he also returned it in a beautiful “retro” toaster box (which will be kept as a treasure now too!) with repro of an old Sunbeam Toaster ad which we plan to frame and hang in our kitchen. There were also some great instructions on care and maintenance of the toaster. My wife and I joked that the toaster looks so great now, that it should be put in a case on display in a museum! We almost don’t want to use it because it’s so clean and shiny, but we know we will. Tim really knows his stuff and kept us well informed with e-mails and lots of pictures he took while working on the toaster. Tim is both very professional and kind. Thanks to Tim, we now have great working toaster that will stay in our family for generations to come. We highly recommend Tim’s Toaster to anyone and everyone who has a toaster needing repair and restoration! Thank you Tim!(show less)

Super restoration of my Sunbeam Tim restored my mother's Sunbeam T20B. It was mfg 9/28/54. This is sort of a family heirloom for me, since it was the only toaster she ever had and that I ever knew. It had stopped working. Now, it works perfectly - A ...GAIN. Tim's service and craftsmanship is beyond belief. My toaster now is basically brand new, the same as it was when my mother bought it new in 1954. As for service, he communicated along the way and sent me dozens of pictures of the restoration - in fact, his emails with pictures overloaded my inbox! haha I won't repeat all the other reviews you see on his website. These are all similar stories and my experience with Tim was the same. Tim's work is fantastic. Only the best My name is Sally Paulin. My husband and I reside in Franklin, Indiana. Tim Wilson just completed restoring a beloved Sunbeam toaster for us and asked that I contact you with my thoughts on his service, so here goes! My mother worked ... at Sunbeam in the 50's. She made these toasters, or parts of them anyway. For over 50 years my Sunbeam T35 sat on my counter and made countless pieces of toast, pastries, etc. and never had a hiccup! Mom used to tease me that she made it well so it was a standing agreement between us that she made perfect kids and a perfect toaster! In April of this year, my beloved mother passed from this life at the age of 91. The day I came home from her funeral in Chicago, our toaster decided to die too! I swear it was nothing short of weird that the toaster broke when Mom did and my 4 other siblings and I all thought it really would be like Mom to pull a joke like that. We tried to fix it, but there was no way. It required an expert in a field that apparently has long died, so the hunt was on. I found a gentleman in Ohio who was undergoing some medical treatments and had to retire, but he had sent all of his business to Tim. I immediately contacted Tim and within a few days, our toaster was on its way to be refurbished by an unknown person in London, Ohio. This appliance means the world to me, as you can imagine, so sending it out to a complete stranger in a different state was really a big step. I cannot tell you how many e-mails Tim and I exchanged and some just for fun. He kept me informed at every step of the way, even sending multiple pictures. The communication is absolutely everything you would wish for when it comes to service, friendliness, and caring. Tim has it all! We received our toaster back the other day, packed in a box matching that which it would have been packed in 70 years ago, but this time with our names on it: "Reconditioned for Steve and Sally Paulin, December, 2021." There was a beautiful poster that came with it that was a copy of the original ad (see picture), but more importantly, our toaster gleamed both inside and out! She was sporting a brand new (and safe) plug, and every inch of that toaster was a pristine as the day it left the factory in Chicago! Tim did not let us down. My only wish is that there were more like him in this world because it would be a much better place to live! His knowledge is beyond compare, but his work ethics and caring just showed in every part of his work. If you need a recommendation, this is mine for Tim. I hope that we never lose craftsmen like him, and that our throw-away society can see the benefits to just having an old toaster with lots of memories that can now be passed down to our granddaughter with pride. I have enclosed a rather poor picture of the toaster after it arrived at our home the other day. I could not capture the gleam of the triple chrome finish, but I did try! We immediately toasted a piece of homemade bread and "toasted" Tim and his expertise, knowing how proud Mom would have been to see it back on our counter. Thank you, Tim.(show less)

Love my “new” toaster from Tim! Not only is it a thing of beauty but it’s fun to watch. The toast truly comes out perfect. Taking it out of the awesome box, it looks brand new! Tim does a fantastic job of restoration right down to the new vintage sty ...le cord. I had purchased a vintage toaster years ago and tried to get it restored by a company in Vegas that had a show on TV. They didn’t even return my email! Tim is very kind, polite and responsive and I feel very fortunate that he had a gorgeous T20B available for me to buy. It will now be in my family forever, nothing like this was passed down from my parents or grandparents. It may be in the will😉. Love the special things Tim does with the packaging, etc. I’m having my daughter make a special quilted cover to keep it safe. Thank you Tim!(show less)

The 1953 Wedding Present In 1953 my parents were married and one of their wedding presents was a Sunbeam T-20-B toaster. After that wedding in Maine it went with them to their first home in Mississippi. In 1957 it made its move with my parents to Ma ...ssachusetts where it has resided since then. It has been one of the staples of the home they built in 1960 and has outlived them both. Today I live in the same house with the same toaster. Recently the original cord, which served as the toaster's life line, gave out after 68 years. After searching at all of the local small appliance repair shops I found Tim's Toasters online. It was Tim that was able to provide the one cord that was needed to restore the T-20-B to its full glory. He has been kind and helpful in getting back a toaster that not only makes a perfect piece of toast but back to an item that was a part of the home and family I grew up with. Thanks Tim!(show less)

68-year-old T20B family toaster… I received my 68-year-old T20B toaster back today! It has been in our family since the early 1950s. It looks perfect and works just like new! The new adjustment knob, electric cord, Sunbeam highlights and everything ...is spic and span inside. I am truly impressed by the care and work that you performed. The extra details you provide, like the custom box, instruction cards and the poster put it this refurbishment over the top. It is a great pleasure to find someone that takes great pride and care in what they do, you certainly exemplify that. If someone ever told me there was a craftsman for toasters and customer service I would have snickered. You turned that snicker into an amazed smile. I highly recommend Tims' Toasters!(show less)

The Toaster I've Been Searching For! For years I've been searching antique stores trying to find a vintage toaster for my 1950s kitchen that would also bring back fond memories of one from my childhood. Though I had seen some toasters that would loo ...k nice sitting on my kitchen counter, I couldn’t imagine actually making toast in them, as they looked pretty disgusting inside. I eventually gave up the search and settled on a modern, retro-style toaster, but it didn’t make decent toast – part of the bread would come out under-toasted while other areas were burnt. So the search continued. As luck would have it, I came across an ad for Tim’s Toasters and reached out to him to see if he had any restored toasters for sale. Tim was incredibly friendly and helpful, sending me pictures of some that he had ready to go. After some wonderful e-mail exchanges, I decided on a T-20-B and I couldn’t be happier! Tim quickly shipped the toaster and when I opened the package I was surprised and delighted by the personalized and retro graphics on the box containing my toaster. As for the toaster itself, it is absolutely stunning! It looks brand-new and makes the most perfect toast I’ve ever had. It is obvious that Tim puts a lot of love and pride into his work, as he goes that extra mile to make sure every detail is as perfect and authentic as possible. After working with Tim, I feel like I’ve made a new friend. I am so in love with my new toaster that I’m now looking to buy a T-35 from him!(show less)

Like I remembered, but better! Like many other people, for most of my adult life I have cycled through numerous cheap, flimsy toasters that don’t toast well and have knobs that fall off. All the while, I had a dim memory going all the way back to my ... earliest childhood of my family having a toaster where you just put the bread in a slot and it went down on its own. I also remember sitting at the kitchen table as a pre-schooler and knowing that when I heard a “click“ sound I could get up and walk back toward the toaster because the toast was going to come up. Nobody else seemed to remember this and I couldn’t find any evidence of it… until I stumbled on Tim’s website. And that led me to YouTube videos that described how the Sunbeam radiant control toaster worked. And that led me back to Tim’s website to see if I could purchase one. He was helpful, kind and knowledgeable and of course had a toaster to sell. What was even better was that Tim had come up with a solution for some models that he has restored that was an alternative to re-chroming the toaster and that was to use a color powder coating instead. And one of the toasters that he had was red, which is my favorite color and matches every small appliance that I have in my kitchen. So, not only did I get an excellent toaster, I got one in my favorite color! Dropping the bread in in just the right way was a slight learning curve for me but once I did it it has worked perfectly just like I remember it. For years I have been convinced that there is a consumer advocate whose sole job is to follow me around so the retail establishments will quit carrying things that I like. So to have this experience was kind of like the opposite of that.(show less)

My Mom and Dad would be pleased. This toaster was a wedding gift to my parents back in 1954. Sometime in the 80s it stopped working and was taken apart (somewhat) and put in a box labelled "Sunbeam Toaster, needs repair". I found it when I cleaned ou ...t her house after she passed several years ago. I could force the heating elements to come on but the raising mechanism was shot. Enter in Tim's Toasters. Every aspect has been restored, including the original cloth wrapped cord. Tim is a man who fulfills his chosen niche to the nth degree! The label on the return box is a hoot. The point here is that things can be made to be repaired rather than junked. This throwaway society we live in now has emphasized short term profit over craftsmanship and common sense. Anyhow, the toast is in and five-year-old me is just waiting for it to pop up "automatically beyond belief".(show less)

Beyond Belief I cannot begin to express how impressed I am with Tim's Toasters. Everything from marketing touches like a personalized Sunbeam box complete with vintage ads to the pride of craftsmanship invested in the restoration process reflects un ...surpassed exceptionalism. Tim was kind enough to custom color a Vista model for me in a very specific shade of 50's turquoise, and he spent painstaking hours making sure the match was exact and communicating with me at every stage. Now I not only have a stunning vintage appliance that makes the best toast I've had since Mom made toast in her Sunbeam, but I also have a one-of-a-kind display piece that steals the midcentury spotlight in the kitchen. Thank you, Tim.(show less)

Better than new! My husband was still in mourning over the loss of a Sunbeam Vista toaster we had years ago. After many years it had not toasted evenly anymore. We did not know about Tim or that it could be repaired. We came across Tim’s add and af ...ter contacting him, we were convinced he was very knowledgeable. We ordered a Vista VT-40. It came well packaged and looked as though it came new from the factory….only better. It now had a 3 prong cord. I first read the instructions which were very helpful. I strongly recommend always reading instructions! I adjusted mine to slightly lighter than center and the toast was beautiful. My husband repeatedly says how he loves our new toaster. Tim kept in touch with pictures of the progress. He is a very kind man and made the whole process a pleasure. I think I will close now and go have a piece of toast with butter and orange marmalade. Yum!(show less)

Once upon a time, a newly married couple received a wedding gift; a 1954 marvel of modern design and function in the form of a Sunbeam Radiant Control T20-B toaster! My husband inherited the immaculately maintained toaster and our youngest son, a co ...llege bound engineering student, fell in love with it. This is where Tim's Toasters enters the story...through a series of prompt, courteous and informative e-mails, we were able to purchase the exact same model - in incredible condition and updated to today's electrical safety standards - for him. It arrived in a wonderful personalized box in time to be the "hit" of the graduation party! We can't say enough good things about Tim, who explained exactly how each toaster is meticulously cleaned, lovingly re-constructed, and tested before being sent to its new "forever home". He's become a friend and we're hoping, one day, to have the pleasure of a face-to-face with him, Bart and Darwin!(show less)

My boyfriend has wanted one of these for a very long time and there aren't enough words to describe the joy on his face when he opened ... the box and saw the toaster for the first. Tim was extremely communicative about the toaster throughout after testing how it worked and the attention that he paid to it how stunning it looked. Excellent work done by excellent people I ordered a T-35-1 off eBay thinking it was a minor issue that I could repair myself. After tear down, I realized I was in way over my head. I looked everywhere for someone to repair my new joy and I found Tim .... I called Tim and we discussed the issues I was having and he assured me that he would be able to make it better than new and I mailed it off to Ohio. Tim communicated with me about everything during the process and was able to give me some of the history behind the toaster. He even told me that the person who sold it to me had taken the original T-35-1 cover and replaced it with a different one. When I got the toaster in the mail I was astonished! I couldn't believe it was the same toaster! It looks brand new and it's now safer with a polarized and grounded power cord. If I could put 6/5 stars I would. When you trust Tim with your toaster you will get excellent work done by a genuinely good and kind person. My toaster wasn't a family heirloom, but if yours is and you may be hesitant sending it off to a stranger, give Tim a call or shoot him an email and you won't be strangers for long! He is the person to trust when it comes to Sunbeams.(show less)

After getting to know Tim via several email messages the toaster was safely in his hands. I ... was given daily updates with pictures, and I could tell he understood the real value of my toaster. The world needs more people like Tim. He sure made an impression on me - not just with his super high class toaster work but with his awesomeness! White Flag Gets Toaster Hero I am the proud owner of a Sunbeam T20B toaster that was made in 1955 which belonged to my grandmother and then my mother. It is very special to me not only for sentimental reasons, but also because it operates "majestica ...lly" (as Tim notes) and results in the BEST toast ever. My toaster stopped working a few years ago and I was forced to tolerate toast from a somewhat pedestrian toaster. When I remembered my very special Sunbeam, I decided to troubleshoot to see if the issue was an obvious one. As I am not mechanically inclined, taking the Sunbeam apart was rather brave and also rather terrifying. When there was no obvious issue I realized I needed help. Researching online, I was excited to learn that these toasters have a serious fan base and that I was not alone in holding them in such high esteem. Everything I read on Tim's website assured me that he is the one to trust with Sunbeam toaster repairs or restoration. I contacted Tim via email on February 1 raising the white flag of surrender and he immediately called me. He listened to my repair saga and explained his passion and expertise when it comes to these particular beauties. The cost was considerable to me, but I decided it was well worth the investment to restore this heirloom. I was thrilled when Tim said there was no need to put it back together first, and I lovingly packed up all the parts and shipped the toaster to Ohio. Aside from looking forward to having my grandmother's toaster restored by Tim, I looked forward to his thorough and thoughtful email updates and photos of the progress. I liked hearing about all the parts of the process and how each of his team members were involved. My beautifully restored toaster arrived safely home to me on February 19 and it felt like Christmas! The custom-labeled box and blast from the past print ad that Tim included were fun and thoughtful touches, too. I can confirm that my toaster is once again operating majestically and it looks brand new! I can't say enough about the pleasant and positive experience I had with having Tim restore my toaster. I highly recommend Tim and would tell anyone who loves these Sunbeam toasters that they can trust him to expertly restore them to their original good looks and high performance. Happy toasting 🙂(show less)

Once again, a masterful restoration Following my recent purchase of one of Tim's toasters on eBay which was meant as a gift for friends (reviewed separately), I decided to ask him to use his skills on another, an AT-W which I had acquired elsewhere ...for myself, which was functional but in dire need of tender care. As expected, Tim masterfully restored it to virtually pristine condition. My AT-W now shines and beckons me every morning from the corner of the kitchen counter, and every morning I marvel as it works its magic to make me delicious, perfectly calibrated toast. Even better: Tim finally figured out how to safely replace the power cord of AT-W models, and upgraded my toaster with a nice thick cord with a grounded plug -- a major safety improvement! You can bet I will be soliciting Tim's help again the next time I have friends in need of a serious upgrade to their everyday morning routine 🙂 Thank you again Tim!(show less)

Sure, it's pretty straightforward: bread goes in, toast comes out. It is a toaster. That's what it does -- and it does that real well. The thing is, this is a toaster like a '57 Chevy is a car. The refurbished T-20-B that I purchased from Tim is mor ...e than a toaster. It is the centerpiece of my kitchen, and one of the few items in my life that I am always downright delighted to use -- and I use it every day! If you have not experienced one of these toasters, or if you have a hazy memory of them from decades past (like me), let me tell you, if you're on this website: they are exactly what you hope them to be. Sure, on the one hand, it's pretty straightforward: bread goes in, toast comes out. It is a toaster. That's what it does -- and it does that real well. The toast is perfect. The thing is, this is a toaster in the same way that a '57 Chevy is a car. Have you ever had the perfect tool for a job? Do you know that sense of satisfaction when you fix the hinge on a door and it closes perfectly for the first time in years? The last piece in a puzzle? That's this toaster. Every morning. No kidding. Sometimes I stand there and watch it. But I don't have to: it's radiant controlled. And Tim even fixed the power cord! As far as I'm concerned, these Sunbeams are among the pinnacle of the late machine age, one of the perfect expressions of American manufacturing and industrial design. Like the Chevy I mentioned, or a glass Coke bottle, they were stamped out by the millions -- and, honestly, that's part of what makes them amazing ... because they feel like craftsmanship. Tim's Toasters are where mid-century American industrial design and manufacturing intersects with the hand-tooled care of a craftsman. Nobody's paying me to say this: I promise you, if you appreciate good design, American manufacturing, the thoughtful care of a craftsman ... and it helps if you like toast ... you will be so glad you bought one of these. It's one of my favorite things I own. This toaster is an heirloom I'll never lose. Not to mention, Tim's a real nice guy! Send him an email! I never thought I'd buy a "vintage toaster". Take it from me: you'll be so glad you did.(show less)

Tim's Toasters, honest, skillful and reliable. My Sunbeam toaster was in dire straights, until Tim and his crew worked their magic on it.
